Delete your Further data

To remove everything from the phone

Uninstall Further with your phone’s normal controls. Your reflections, your identity profile, the days you have finished, your sessions, your habits, your favourites and your settings go with it.

If you would rather keep the app and start from nothing, clear its data instead. On most Android phones the path is:

1. Open Settings on your phone, then Apps.
2. Find Further in the list.
3. Open Storage, then Clear data.

The app stays installed and opens as though it were new. The exact wording moves a little between Android versions and manufacturers, but the path is the same.

Then check your phone’s own backup

This is the step that is easy to miss, and without it the first one is not the whole job.

Android backs app data up to your Google account. The feature is called Auto Backup, it is on by default on most phones, and it covers Further the same way it covers your other apps. So a copy of what you wrote can sit in your own Google account even after the app is gone from the phone.

That copy is yours, in your account, protected by your Google password. Afterframe Studio cannot reach it. You manage it in your phone’s settings rather than in Further, usually under Settings, then Google, then Backup, where you can turn backup off or remove the backup for a device.

It is worth knowing in both directions. Without an account it is the only thing that lets a journey survive a new phone, since Further has no export.

What we hold

Without an account, nothing. No copy of your reflections, no advertising profile and no advertising identifier. Which also means we cannot delete for you something that exists only on your phone or only in your Google account.

With an account, a copy of your journey is held for you in Germany, and deleting the account removes it. Uninstalling the app does not: the copy is there so that losing your phone does not cost you your journey, which is the same reason it outlives the app being removed.

One more thing leaves the phone and it is worth knowing about. If you speak a reflection instead of typing it, your speech is processed by the recognition service built into your device or operating system. Which service that is, and how it processes speech, varies by phone and by your settings. Further does not save your speech as an audio file and receives only the text that comes back, and that service’s own terms govern how it handles your voice. If you would rather it did not, type instead.

One more thing to know

A meditation you have played is downloaded and kept on your phone, so it plays again with no connection. Those files go with the app when you clear its data or uninstall it, the same as everything else, and they hold nothing about you.
